Drone (UAV) Surveying & Aerial Mapping

Fast, safe, and highly detailed aerial capture for topo, volumes, construction progress, and asset inspection — delivered as orthophotos, contours, and 3D models.

What Is Drone Surveying?

Drone (UAV) surveying uses high-resolution imagery and photogrammetry to generate orthomosaics, point clouds, DSM/DTM, and contours over large areas quickly and safely. With ground control and rigorous QA, we achieve survey-grade outputs suitable for civil, construction, mining, and environmental applications.

It reduces time on site, reaches hazardous or inaccessible areas, and provides rich visual context for design and decision-making.

When / Why You Need It

  • Topographic & feature surveys over large areas
  • Earthworks volumes & stockpile calculations
  • Construction progress & site logistics planning
  • Roads, subdivisions, corridors & utilities
  • Environmental monitoring & vegetation mapping
  • Roof, façade, and asset inspections

Our Process

1) Scope & Compliance
Confirm outputs, accuracy, airspace permissions, and safety plan. CASA-compliant operations.
2) Control & Check Points
Establish survey control (GDA2020/MGA) and GCP/CP layout to meet tolerance requirements.
3) Flight Capture
Plan flight lines, forward/side overlap, and altitude for required GSD; capture nadir & oblique imagery if needed.
4) Processing
Photogrammetry to produce orthomosaic, point cloud, DSM/DTM; noise filtering and colour balancing.
5) QA & Validation
Report RMSE against check points; verify vertical/horizontal accuracy and coverage.
6) Deliverables & Handover
Export CAD/BIM-ready outputs; provide viewer files and a short walkthrough.

Outputs You’ll Receive

  • Orthomosaic (GeoTIFF/ECW), tiles, and web-ready imagery
  • Point cloud: .LAS / .LAZ / .E57
  • DSM/DTM and contours (DWG/DXF)
  • Surface models for volumes and cut/fill
  • QA summary with control residuals (RMSE)

Accuracy, Time & Cost

With robust control, sub-decimetre horizontal accuracy is typical for civil works. Capture often completes within 1–3 hours per site; processing depends on area and deliverables. Pricing scales with area, access, permissions, and required tolerances.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is drone surveying legal on my site?
We operate within CASA rules, obtain required approvals, and follow site inductions and safety plans.
Do you use ground control?
Yes — we set GCPs/CPs on GDA2020/MGA to achieve reliable absolute accuracy, verified in the QA report.
Can you integrate with our CAD/BIM workflow?
Absolutely. We provide DWG/DXF contours, surfaces, and point clouds compatible with Civil 3D, 12d, Revit, and Navisworks.
What about restricted airspace or urban areas?
We assess airspace, obtain permissions where possible, and adapt capture methods to meet compliance and safety.
How do you manage privacy?
We limit capture to agreed extents and can blur/mask imagery if requested. Data is secured and shared privately.

What Clients Say

“The aerial survey gave us contours and volumes in days, not weeks — huge boost to planning and progress claims.”
