3D Laser Scanning & Point Cloud Surveys

Ultra-accurate as-built capture for design, BIM, clash detection, heritage, and construction verification — delivered fast in the formats you use.

What Is a Laser Scanning Survey?

Laser scanning (terrestrial LiDAR) captures millions of precise measurements to create a 3D point cloud of your asset or site. From that point cloud we produce as-built models, plans, sections, elevations, and BIM/CAD outputs that reflect real-world conditions in high detail.

It’s ideal for refurbishments, fit-outs, plant & MEP coordination, clash detection, façade mapping, volumetrics, deformation checks, and heritage documentation — reducing site revisits and rework.

When / Why You Need It

  • As-built capture before design or fabrication
  • BIM coordination & clash detection
  • Fit-outs, refurbishments, and extensions
  • Heritage & complex geometry documentation
  • Deformation monitoring & QA checks
  • Earthworks volumes & stockpiles
  • Civil corridors, tunnels, and plant rooms

Our Process

1) Scope & Control Plan
Agree outputs, tolerances, coordinate system (local grid or GDA2020/MGA), and site access.
2) On-Site Scanning
High-density TLS capture (photos if required) with safety-first procedures and minimal disruption.
3) Registration & Georeferencing
Combine scans, remove noise, and align to control for a clean, unified point cloud.
4) QA & Accuracy Report
Check residuals, coverage, and control compliance; document achieved tolerances.
5) Deliverables
Point clouds (.E57/.LAS/.RCP), 2D drawings (DWG/DXF), orthophotos, and BIM models (Revit/IFC) as specified.
6) Handover & Walkthrough
We review findings with your team and provide viewer files or guidance for smooth adoption.

Outputs You’ll Receive

  • Unified point cloud: .E57 / .LAS / .RCP
  • 2D plans, sections, elevations: DWG/DXF
  • BIM deliverables: Revit (RVT), IFC, or NWC
  • True-scale orthophotos / panoramas
  • QA summary with registration statistics

Accuracy, Time & Cost

We target project-appropriate tolerances (often millimetre-level for architectural interiors). Turnaround depends on site size and outputs — from half-day captures to multi-day scans, with modelling time based on LOD.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a point cloud?
A point cloud is a dense set of 3D points captured by the scanner. It represents surfaces accurately and underpins drawings and BIM models.
Can you provide a Revit model?
Yes. We can deliver native Revit (RVT), IFC, or coordination formats like NWC/NWD to suit your workflow.
Do we need to close the site?
Usually no — we plan routes and scanning windows to minimise disruption. Brief stoppages may be needed for safety or line-of-sight.
What coordinate system do you use?
We can supply local grid or GDA2020 / MGA (zone as required).
How do you handle privacy and security?
We capture only agreed areas, manage data securely, and can mask or remove sensitive content if requested.

What Clients Say

“The scan-to-BIM deliverables were spot on. Coordination was smoother and we avoided clashes on site.”
